DANC 100 Dance Appreciation

A survey course exploring Western concert dance as well as world dance forms. Students will discover what dance reveals about cultural, national and ethnic identity, class and gender, and study the history of major dance forms. Students will investigate dance through readings, videos, dance participation exercises and by attending live performances.

The Kinesiology/Athletics/Dance offers a wide variety of physical activities that students can participate in according to individual interests and needs, activities that have carry-over value for the students' leisure time, now and in the future. Instruction is provided in progressive levels of competency, offering opportunities for specialization. A recommended preparation for all physical education courses is a recent physical examination.
