CHIN 211 Colloquial Chinese I, Elementary
A beginning conversational Mandarin Chinese course. Extensive oral training in Mandarin. Emphasis on practical vocabulary, pronunciation and idiomatic usage, with sufficient grammar to give flexibility to the spoken language. The Pinyin phonetic system is used to represent the sounds in Mandarin, and substitute for characters in writing. Designed for students who wish to acquire basic skills of spoken Mandarin Chinese.
