Course Information
An overview of contemporary family and community issues influencing childhood. Interactions among the child, family, school, peers, media, and the community are explored. The course focuses on the socialization process, including cultural and ethnic diversity, parenting styles, gender roles, and the role of the community. Community resources available to children and families are also covered.
Hours/semester: 48-54 lecture.
Recommended: Eligibility for ENGL 846 or ESOL 400, or equivalent.
