ECE. 201 CHILD DEVELOPMENT

Units (Letter grade) 3; Class Hours: Minimum of 48 lecture hours/semester; Recommended: Eligibility for READ 836, and ENGL 836 or ESL 400; Prerequisite(s): None.

Description: Examines the major physical, psychosocial, and cognitive/language developmental milestones for children, both typical and atypical, from conception through adolescence. There is an emphasis on interactions between maturational processes and environmental factors. While studying developmental theory and investigative research methodologies, students observe children, evaluate individual differences and analyze characteristics of development at various stages. Online, are courses where the instructor and student are separated by distance for the entire course and can interact exclusively through the assistance of communication technology.
