SOCI 141 ETHNICITY AND RACE IN SOCIETY

Units (Grade Option) 3; Class Hours: Minimum of 48 lecture hours/semester; Recommended: Eligibility for READ 836, and ENGL 836 or ESL 400; Prerequisite(s): None.

Description: Examines sociological theories of ethnicity and race as well as explores the contemporary experiences of and sociological debates around racial and ethnic minorities in the US. An emphasis is placed on the contrastive and relational dimensions of identity and the processes of boundary making and unmaking. (Fulfills Associate degree Ethnic Studies requirement.)
