Description: Explores and analyzes the experiences of African Americans in U.S. history. Subjects include: African societies, the slave trade, the evolution of a raced-based slave system in America, the evolution of African American culture, abolitionism, the Civil War and Reconstruction, segregation, the Harlem Renaissance, the civil rights movement, and current issues. (Fulfills Associate degree Ethnic Studies requirement.) Transfer: CSU: DSI, UC. (IGETC: 3B, 4)
