ENGR 270 Materials Science Application of basic principles of physics and chemistry to the engineering properties of materials with emphasis on the relationship between atomic- and micro-structure and the mechanical and electrical properties of metals, concrete, polymers, ceramics, and semiconducting materials. The effect of heat, stress, imperfections, and chemical environment on material properties. Selection of materials to meet engineering design criteria. Acquisition, analysis, and presentation of experimental data. (Spring only) Units: 4 Degree Credit Letter Grade Only
